Teaching Philosophy

In my classes you can expect to get your blood flowing & your body moving. Mindful movement is always encouraged, as well as reminders to practice self-love & compassion, and listen to your body, taking rest in Balsana (Child?s Pose) when you need.

 

I emphasise the importance of breath by bringing focus to this in each class as I guide you through your inhalations and exhalations from the moment you step onto the mat. We will connect the breath, body and mind in union, to really feel a sense of being transported away from the physical world, and towards a true discovery of the Self.

 

I focus a lot on posture alignment, and provide physical adjustments (not possible at the moment due to Covid-19 social distancing rules), as well as verbal cues ? which are, in these digital times, exceptionally important to help my students maintain their form and practice safely.

 

I really enjoy theming my classes, bringing my students something to think about and helping to draw their attention and intention inwards during their practice. Together we not only explore the many asanas (postures) that yoga has to offer, but also the philosophy around why we practice and the endless pranayama (breathing techniques) available to us.

 

I always provide a warm, non-judgemental space in my classes, where everyone feels welcome and loved. Falling over and giggling at yourself is encouraged, and swearing at me when I leave you in Utkatasana (Chair Pose) for too long is standard!!
